woot.... just a little update. Shireen appeared in the back cover of the headlines section of the Straits Times today. She was awarded the A-star scholarship to do medicine in Cambridge University. Congrats!

Hello! I am here to erm, do my part in keeping the blog somewhat alive! ^^;;

Went for CO concert with my friends on 6 May and it was really good! ^^ The encore piece was really cute although it wasn't very CO-ish. Radetsky March sounded surprisingly nice with the CO instruments. Well done Huiling and Ziming! Heh Huiling looked charming in her dress. =P

Then there was Harmonix IX last night. Met Shireen who came back to watch the concert. =) Wenxian was in NS hence could not come. Hmmm I wonder if anyone went to watch Harmonix. ^^;;

Yay it's a long weekend. I think the last few weeks have been rather tiring and stressful for everyone because of all the concerts and things so enjoy your break! Haha I have lots of tutorials to catch up on. Eep. Happy weekend everyone~ Take care!

haha... i popped by.... Thanks for the greeting and the christmas card.... A short update on J2 life... There is currently a white-slipping competition taking place in sch now, apparently originated from the chem dept. Bad news for us students as with new regulations now, 3 white slips can earn u a phone call to ur daddy or mummy.. Meanwhile, lessons have picked up pace and hmwk is already piling up. It's scary to think that in J1, u count the no. of weeks u are in RJ, but now in J2, u start counting the no. of weeks u have left... Finally, happy mugging for anyone who "pops by" and for our OGLs, good luck on A level results!

The guy who proclaimed the last post is now breaking the silence. How ironic. Anyway, the student council is calling for OGLs for next year orientation already, an indication of how long it has been since our own orientation. Perhaps a harsher reminder would be that promos are in 5 weeks time and soon enough half of the JC life we so cautiously step into 8 months ago would be over. And the famous folk song "Auld Lang Syne" asks perfectly, "Should auld (old) acquaintance be forgot

hmm seems the fire that was set 5 mths ago has finally comes to its end after at least 2 mths of flickering. well i've been trying hard to keep at least some of us together by bringing a deck of cards to k'cove every morning and try to persuade ppl to join in the fun (risking white slips and yet the turnup rate is approaching 0). *sob *sob ;(

but that's life: no two or more ppl can stay together for eternity. hmm well i know it would be futile to fare against it but juz hope that every1 is happy and high-spirited after five months of hectic jc life. oh and remember if we happen to meet one another in sch, dun tao each other. a simple word "hi" will prove to be spirit-lifting. :))

I guess it's been a while since anyone has been at the k'cove in the morning. Once Manyan and I were planning to go there one morning just to see if anyone still went there faithfully in the morning, unfortunately we were having morning pract for harmoc so our plan never materialised.

Gah. I'm rambling. I'm not saying anything useful, and it's kind of extra, because it's post-"last post". Heh. Just felt that, erm, well, while it's inevitable that everything sort of fades into history, I don't really think that this is so-called "the end". The fact that some of us still check this blog and post is evidence of that. =P So maybe we could still visit our nice little blog and leave a note occasionally.... and while doing that, remember how it began. *thinks about orientation* ^^;;

Yup. Erm, so... Happy June Hols everyone! ^__^ The long awaited hols are finally here, man. Hope the hols will be fun and productive for everyone! Enjoy yourselves and take a good break, and good luck for the upcoming Common Tests!

The Last Post

Unknowingly, 2 terms have passed leading us into the June holidays and a stark reminder that perhaps a quarter of JC life has just passed us. It is hard to accept but we must acknowledge that the concepts of OG are outdated, thrown out of the window like clothes that went out of fashion and trend. Hence, in our struggle to keep up with the fast-paced trend-setting JC life, OG has been relegated to a distant memory, serving almost no function in school life. Such a change is normal and common to say the least. "It is inevitable, inexorable. It is the law of nature" quoted a student. Therefore, I shall attempt to bring proper closure to this OG, "end on a high note" they say. Well... as u all can see from the title 'The Last Post" While all of us engage in intellectual, social pursuit in our daily lives in school, do not forget how it all began. It was Zev'Feior that brought us into this school, if we can hold that true in our hearts, then Zev'Feior can then fade into history, knowing that it has served its purpose. To the OGLs, thanks a lot for ur guidance and support. It is time to end the last sentence of the great chapter with a full stop.

Hello everyone! I know I haven't been blogging. Erm, and I'm not sure if anyone still checks this blog anymore. But yes, harmoc is having a concert on the 20th May, Friday, at 7.30pm in LT2. Tickets are priced at $5... and everyone should try to come, because there'll be nice music and nice people playing it! ^__^ Heh. Besides, wenxian, shireen, manyan and myself will all be playing, plus other people you might know in harmoc. So please come and support if you have time, kay? Heyhey... Been quite some time since I last blogged (thanks to something known as common tests... In a very very cold hall or LT. :P) . Anyway just wanted to say congrats to XueYing! :D Sighh and was/is O2 really THAT bad? :

And we will dance?

O2 became a perfect mockery of the beautifully composed batch song as jc1s of RJC todae engage in total "cold warfare" against the O2 team. The title itself-" And we will dance?" shows the irony of the situation through the addition of the question mark at the end.

0830- extreme deserters way of doing it
While the band "postponed" were playing some pop songs, the hardcore deserters stood up and openly made their way towards the exit. They strolled out at a leisurely pace, seemingly taunting the O2 team to act against them. Though the acoustics of the indoor gym were rather bad and whenever i heard the singers they were off-tune, I believe the underlying factor of them leaving is just a utter complete cynicism towards O2.

0840- Monkey see, monkey do(the follow-the-crowd mentality)
The mass movement led by the hardcore deserters was the exact motivation needed for those who had the intention but not the courage. After observing the safe departure of the deserters and the nonchalance of the O2 team(at tht time i think they were rather taken aback), a second movement was started. This time-it was a mass stampede. Ppl were rushing for the exits with cries of freedom. After a while the sitution got out of hand and the O2 team finally got their act together and prevented ppl from leaving. To me, the unintended victim of the circumstances was the unfortunate band "postponed". They were halfway through their reportoire, i think, and by leaving during a performance, it's equivalent to jeering a sportmans in his race.

0900- Dictatorship through fear and terror
Before the situation worsens as dissent is rising in the crowds who were complaining that they should be allowed to leave since ppl already left and were not stopped, an authorative figure had to come in to stabilize the situation. And boy did he stablize the situation-with excessive propaganda and threats. Starting with brainwashing techniques, he warns us in the danger of believe "legends of O2 spread by the seniors" and insisted that "O2 was compulsory". A veiled threat came in here as he said "absence would have to be explained to the CTs on Monday". Finally, to make himself seem more humane, he tries to show his reluctance (a kind of "it's not that i dun wan to let ur all go off.."thingy) by claiming his responsiblity over us during O2 and "parents expect him to be responsible". Obviously, some amongst us would disagreely fervently and say that their parents expect them to be home....

1245- And we will Rebel, Selphar Rebellion
Walking into the indoor gym after lunch proves only 2 points, that if RJ wanted to issue white slip to every jc1 that is M.I.A., they would run out of paper first, two, dictatorship failed. The remnants of cohort were a sorry sight and the majority of them began a silent protestation of them being held back against own will. The more daring of the protesters sat down right in front of the dance team and started playing cards, listening to music, sleeping. The more conservatives one were spread out at the side, talking in their groups. Their common aim: cold war tactics- total ignorance and nonchanlance. The dancers at the 2nd level were exasperated as they tried to no avail to get the majority of the ppl to start dancing. The bad sound system added to their misery and everyone just pretended not to hear or chose not hear what was being said.

1430- Storyline? What Storyline? Station games? Are u sure?
After a boring briefing on tmr's CIp project, the O2 team presented the storyline of K'predorus 2. Due to the bad sound system and my personal disinterest after tolerating 6 hrs of non-efficiency, storyline was just noise in the ears that was irritating. Storyline ended quickly and we went off for station games, by this time if u had 10 in a OG, u are considered a enthu OG...Speaks volumes eh.... Station games were like urgh..., think everyone was fed up and disgusted by the concept of O2 and we bullied Gautum into letting us exercise our human rights. A few games were rather okay and fun but by then, it was all too late....too little....

1700- Conclusion of Day 1
The first qn to ask, who is to be blame? Can we blame the O2 team? I think not. They spent great effort preparing and orgainising todae's stuff and it would be wrong for us to blame them. Instead, they need a pat on the back, for i think some of them were rather disappointed at how things turned out. So, who is to blame? If u ask me, I say its because most of the jc1s have lost their spontaneous self and become cynical and protective of opening up again. They(maybe including me) do not see the point of O2, and when a man doesn't believe in a certain cause, he would not work for it. It is a simple logic, understood by many, but the solution to this problem yet eluded many, including the elites of a top premier JC in the Bishan-Ang Mo Kio area. O2 was the best example.

@ last i blog again

hello every1, it is me again. i think my previous visit to this place was more than 1 mth ago... oops. but aniway a lot of things happened during this mth. firstly i finally realised wad it is like to flunk a test; den i went to a 4-day odac expedition during the march hols... o man it rocks! kayaking from kallang to ecp and back took 2 days and climbing Gunnung Belumut in Johore, Malaysia took another 2 days. hmmm very interesting tho my skin is peeling off... :p

anyway hope every1 can stay after the jae posting... esp xue ying (i could sense her anxiety even thru msn). wonder if every1 had the opportunity to wish vanessa a goodbye (fortunately i did so on monday).

well i think the release of jae posting results marks the end of our 3 mths of slacking time... wenxian says ur life will be gone when pw starts... but stay happy, healthy and optimistic. remember: things that don't kill u make u stronger. :) and blog often!

It has been 1 week of hols and no one is blogging still.... shall try to liven this place up with my insignificant efforts. Anyway, my main purpose of blogging today is to wish ppl luck.

First, to Wenxian and Shireen, gd luck for CTs! Happy mugging!(sadistically)
Next is to Vanessa who is 99% sure of leaving us. May you have luck in whatever you do in HC and remember to remember us! This 3 months may seem like 1 min when u try to think about it, but the 1 min of remembering is worth the 3 months of time.

Everybody's changing:) or Everybody's changing:(

A recent msn nick of Shireen-"Everybody's changing" has set me thinking quite a bit. It could be the very reason why everyone is shunning this blog and account for the poor turn-out at k'cove every morning. However, as quoted from somewhere, humans have degenerate to the extent of using smileys to denote the intent of the sentence. As shown above, the smiley has a pivotal effect on the meaning of the sentence. The one with :) shows acceptance and perhaps a liking to the change in ppl around him/her, whereas the one with :( shows denial and perhaps a feeling of being left behind in the fast-changing environment. Before we try to arrive prematurely at any conclusion, we need to understand that change itself is relative. If one person undergo a change while the ppl around him remains constant, he would (in relative to him) feel that everyone else has changed when the fact is that he was the only one that has changed. To further complicate matters, let consider cases where two ppl changes. For does the change in say person A amplifies when he meets person B who has changed as well or do the changes cancel themselves out? So, as we can see, we cannot avoid change, change would be a constant in our lives. Whether we like it or not, we will change and ppl around us will change, thus the statement "Everybody's changing" would almost stand as a law of nature. So, for me, though there would be this nagging reluctance and inertia when change takes place, I would still denote the statement with a :). Call me a hopeless idealist if u wan, for that's the way I am becoz i see no point in try to deny or avoid when whatever u do would not change the ppl around u back to some time before. This is perhaps the only case when denial is more painful than acceptance. So, in all its undoing, Zevfeior can still claim to be the only OG to have a air-con k'cove:)..See u ppl around in O2, perhaps then we can make more ppl choose the :) rather than the :(

Anyway oh well interesting fact of the day. "When hydrogen peroxide is applied to a wound, it fizzes as oxygen is released. This fizzing action helps loosen and remove dead tissue and is not harmful." Which I found while trying to do this very strange Chem assignment... :P

MOE mind games?

In view of the upcoming release of O level results, there has been a flurry of debates among the JC1s of RJC. The issues that they were debating?

1) Date of release of results
The date of release of results was a concern among the students as the day after the release of results was declared a holiday. Thus, if the date falls on a Friday, then the holiday would be "wasted" in a sense. As till date no press release has been announced, speculations were wild and fiery.
According to a "reliable" source from MOE(another way of putting it would be like my friend's friend's mother), the results are to be out on Monday. This concurs with the general opinion of the students as it would mean a long weekend for them. My class would be exceptionally happy becoz Mon and Tues are long days ending at 4pm and 3.30pm respectively. Furthermore, it frees up time for an OG outing:)
However, according to a reliable source from RI(a certain Mrs Jasbir Koh who should be fondly remembered by the RI guys), the results would be out on Friday. She so heavily(pun) insisted on it that no one dared to doubt her. If this is true, then as 1 current RJC student candidly puts it, "I would not go for Drama Feste on Thurs coz I would be at home worrying about my result. You won't see me on Fri either coz I would be at the top of a building."

2) Brown Envelope? White Envelope?
Yes, the above is the most frequently asked question of the day as the elites of RJC tries to figure out the hidden meaning behind the colour coding of the envelopes containing the letter on JAE sent by the MOE. Whether or not MOE intended the colour coding was relatively unknown, yet as usual when there is a difference, controversy sets in. Unfortunately, there is no clear cut distinction of pattern this time, for there seem to be as many ppl who are likely to flunk getting a brown envelope as those getting a white envelope. However, still from reliable sources this time, it seemed that if u received a letter for a teachers' seminar or for the Talent Development Scheme, u should start worrying. It was rumoured that that the if u received the teachers' seminar letter, ur aggregate would be 17+ and this information was published some time this week. Sadly, I am unable to confirm this speculation for I did not come across such a publication these few days.

As a conclusion, we can see that MOE is truly a mastermind in mind games. By giving vague information like "o level results would be out end of this week to early next week" and sending envelopes in different colours, they have set the entire J1 cohort alive in flames, hyperventilating in an air-con room. Well, on an ending note, good luck for the results, (touch wood), as if u all need it, rite? :)
